Heated Baths

Baths are becoming more and more rarer in the bathroom, when you think about it they cannot always be that relaxing just laying there while the water gets colder the longer you stay in the bath.

At Springwave we don't believe that the bath is completely dead in homes but we do believe that they need something more special about them, all our Whirlpool Baths have hydro-massaging jets rather than your standard Air/Bubble jets you find in most whirlpool baths.  This means that not only will you feel 100 times better in our range of Whirlpool Baths but you will actual feel the jets massaging you as you lay there.

Also some of our whirlpool baths are fitted with waterproof tvs which makes your time in the bath much more enjoyable and most of our whirlpool baths come fitted with a FM radio as standard.

A selected range of our whirlpool baths have a built in heater which means that the water in the bath will be kept at a certain temperature throughout your bathing session, but I do recommend taking an alarm into the bathroom as most of our customer struggle to get out a heated bath when they have the jets running and the tv on. It is the perfect relaxation environment and this is not including the chemotherapy lights that are built into the bath making the water glow different colours.

Shower Pod

More and more people everyday are changing there bath or combination unit for a shower pod, nearly 95% of people would prefer having a shower on a daily basis than a bath.

We have a wide range of shower pods on display in our Bristol Showroom, which range from your typical shower enclosure with body jet panel to our fantastic range of high quality steam shower enclosures.  Shower pods get there name from being a complete shower enclosure that is fully enclosed the benefit of a complete enclosure it there in most cases they are an appliance in the bathroom rather than a fixture.

Shower Pods are very easy to install and in a lot of instances are easier to install than most electric showers,  not only this but shower pods are built with a much higher quality so are less prone to breaking down. The typical Electric shower will need replacing once a year where a shower pod from Springwave will last a lifetime, when an electric shower costs around £100-£200 this will save the average person £5000 - £10000.  This is not including the cost of repairs, fittings and any other expense that may occur.

In the long conclusion investing in a shower pod would not only give you a much more relaxing and enjoyable showering experience but would also save you some money in the long run.

Limescale, What is it!

Limescale is the hard, off-white, chalky deposit you normally find in kettles, hot-water boilers and generally any unit that uses hot water.  Limescale occurs more if you have "hard water" places with "soft water" are less likely to have limescale damage.

Basic Cause of Limescale

Limescale is caused by calcium build up which can normally be found in Hard Water.

Effects of Limescale

Other then being unsightly and harder to clean, limescale can impair the operation of various components or damage them.  In kettles,  limescale acts as an insulator,  impairing heat transfer.  Additionally,  it can damage the heating element,  which overheats due to accruing limescale.

Prevention

In kettles, you can add crystals of citric acid to water, which act as chelating agent, you can do the same thing in your steam showers generator.  Alternatively, you can use a ball of steel wire, whose surface area attracts most of the limescale, to reduce the accumulation.  The ball can then be cleaned coarsely via squeezing, or finely via a descaling agent.

Treatment

Limescale can be removed using various descaling agents and penetrating tools.  Principally these are acids which react to form more soluble products.

It can also be removed via a scouring pad, though this may damage the underlying surface.

Solid Oak

Oak wood has a density of about 0.75 g/cm3. Great strength and hardness, and can be very resistant to water is treated correctly.  Normally you will find solid oak in furniture, buildings and a selected range of boats.

We at Springwave have taken it one step further and added the luxury of Solid Oak to the bathroom.  All of our Vanity Units are made from 100% High Quality Solid Oak, but also our New York range of Steam Showers have Solid Oak Trays and some even have a Solid Oak Roof.  This Oak is treated so that it is completely protected from the water so that it will not discolor or erode.

Also our Sydney range of Whirlpool Baths also have some fantastic solid oak options.

New York Steam Shower Installation

By following this installation guide you can make your shower 100% leak free.

The unit used in the example is a ADS-71 Steam Shower.

The vertical extrusions need to be sealed together either using silicon for a permanent seal or double sided foam tape for a removable panel seal, leaving the cover on one side of the tape as in the pictures.

The taped joint is folded over the corner of the extrusion and runs the complete length.

The panels are put together using the factory drilled holes, to firstly tack the panel together, these holes have been drilled so the shower cubical is square, use the 4x12mm stainless steel screws to hold the shower together.

You will now need to drill holes using the 3.2mm drill bit provided, the holes are drilled in the center line of the extrusion, the holes are drilled in between the center of the factory holes and then in the center of the drilled holes, so approximately every 120mm, you will also need to drill a hole in the very bottom 10-20mm up.

You will need to silicone the bottom of the silicone gasket to the shower floor or tray, wiping away any excess; you will then need to silicone the corners from both the outside and inside of the shower to create a 100% water proof seal.

Silicone the corners of your shower.
